Eight yoginīs rule in a fixed round, each for as many years as her place in it — one for Maṅgalā, rising to eight for Saṅkaṭā: a wheel of thirty-six years that repeats up to three times across a life (a hundred and eight in all). Four are gentle and four are fierce — sixteen kindly years against twenty that test.
The Parāśara school derives each term from the one before it — a chain of meanings, not a table of constants. Read them in the order they are built:
The nine sum to 120 — the puruṣāyus, the full ordained span a life is lent. And the Sun's same seed of six builds the sixty-year wheel of saṃvatsaras: 6 × (1 + 2 + 3 + 4) = 60.
